Dr. MacRae was the first plastic surgeon in the area to offer the Earwell system for correction of newborn ear folding deformities in 2008. When therapy is started before the age of 3 weeks (ideally at age 7-10 days), ear molding can completely correct deformities such as prominent ears (sticking out), lop ears, and Stahl’s (“elf”) ear deformities. Molding therapy is completely non-invasive, non-painful, and involves no needles, surgery, or sedation. Therapy usually takes only 4-6 weeks.
Dr. MacRae performs many procedures for removal and reconstruction of skin cancer. She works on any part of the body from head to toe in order to cure the cancer and restore optimal function and appearance.
Ideally, a facelift will not completely change someone’s facial character, but will simply turn back the clock. A recent facelift patient of mine told me that when her son (who lives out of town) saw her for the first time after surgery, he said “She looks the same, only 15 years younger”. Another patient was showing a “selfie” of herself and her daughter, when the friend said “I didn’t know you had another daughter”. I like to help people feel good and that includes changing a tired appearance (due to normal aging) to a fresh, happy look!
Injectables like fillers (Restylane, Voluma, Juvederm) can restore a youthful appearance to the face. One effect of aging is the loss of subcutaneous fat, making the face gaunt and wrinkled. Adding fillers “plumps up” the areas of the face that are sunken in. Botox is another nice non-surgical option for facial wrinkles. It works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, such as the forehead, between the brows, and the crow’s feet.
